Getting To Know Me: Shocking Secrets Exposed
I’ll admit it. I forget that you all don’t know every little thing about me. I’m as open as I can be, but sometimes I like to keep a little bit of mystery. However, getting to know me is not totally complicated. Getting to know me has everything to do with me feeling free to get personal. Therefore, today’s post is all about ME!
People always seem to make a list of the things that they despise or dislike more than they seem to talk about the things that make them happy! We spend so much time focused on the things that we wish to change; without reflecting on what we love the most. The things that we love the most are what keep us inspired and should help us to see that the things we dislike are minimal compared to the things that bring us joy. In no particular order, I created a list of my best-loved things.
Getting To Know Me: Who/What I Love
Love That Awakens the Soul
I am blessed to have a loving family that is always there for me; in times of need. I can turn to my husband and son, who are repeatedly waiting to shower me with love. My parents and grandparents are always just one phone call away, should I ever need anything. I am grateful for my village. I have a close circle of friends that I can confide in my securities and insecurities; without any judgment. They are my tribe!
The Tool That Is Social Media
I am addicted to social media, and I am aware of the problem that I have. Most of my time is spent engaging with others and browsing online. I use apps like Facebook to stay connected to family, Instagram to share pictures and videos, and Twitter for the latest in pop culture. I also love websites like Tumblr and Pinterest and use them for creative inspiration.
Beyonce Giselle Knowles- Carter
If there is someone out there who doesn’t love Beyonce, I wouldn’t want to meet that person. How could you not love Beyonce? My Beyhive membership card was activated in the late ’90s, and it is set to never expire. She is THE mood. I aspire to achieve my goals as if I were Beyonce. I ask myself, “what would Beyonce do?” to achieve my professional goals. She’s not only a favorite of mine, but she is also an inspiration.
Shocking Secret: I used to have an entertainment blog in 2007 before I switched to a personal blog.
What Inspires Me
Music is the Shorthand of Emotion
Music has always been my preferred method of expression. Although I am no singer, I love how so many different artists can find very different ways to express their feelings and thoughts. There is always a genre and a song to fit my mood. R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, and Rap are the genres that compose the soundtrack to my life. Pop and Rock are also genres that I listen to often. If I were not into the lifestyle niche, I would run a music blog.
Documentaries, Films, Autobiographies
I love a good story! Learning about topics and people that I have been intrigued by is fun and a favorite past-time. There are great gems in documentaries and autobiographies. It helps the person seem relatable to the audience & captures you in a way that can be entertaining, inspiring, and educating. All I need with this is good cuisine and a bed, for afterward.
Laughter is the Best Medicine
Why so serious? Admittedly, this is how I sometimes deflect from issues and problems. Laughter is good for the soul. I am fond of the art of comedy and letting these jokes fly. Joking is a great way to lighten the mood, and I use it as a buffer or an icebreaker daily. I also love it when others can be witty; it makes for good dialogue and conversation.
Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun
My mind is always busy with ideas and figuring out how to execute them. Everything that I imagine is real. Taking an idea and turning it into reality is magic. It’s therapeutic, fun, and relaxing. Art is beautiful! Creating gives me great pride and a feeling of achievement.
Know My Guilty Pleasures
Online Shopping
Shopping online is convenient for my lifestyle! I may be a little embarrassed to admit that I spend most of my money shopping online. The number of packages that arrive at my house every month is ridiculous.
Essential Self-Care
I have a secret that I want to share with you. Are you ready for it? Okay. Self-care is not selfish; it is necessary. It is one of the many ways to nurture my mind, body, and soul. I enjoy working on my physical health through the forms of yoga, beauty projects (i.e. facials/hairstyles), and trigger point massage therapy. Meditation and gratitude journaling are essential to my mental and emotional health.
